Hello Everyone!
If you like this guide, please take 5 minutes to throw a little support my way over at: www.mykeandamic.bandcamp.com
In this blog post I am going to show you the easiest way to get your OnSong App up and running with a nice little database of songs.
If you are looking for how to edit songs on your computer click here.
Step 1: Setting up Dropbox.
- If you don’t have a Dropbox account, get one. Here is a link: Click Me, CLICK ME!!! to get you started.
- You will want to create an account and then download the Dropbox desktop application. (The Dropbox website will walk you through this)
- Once you have the software installed, take your iPad or iPhone and open the OnSong App. Make sure you are using OnSong 1.96, it will be listed that way on your device. This is the newest version and is the one that will recieve updates.

- If you have the old version, you don’t have to buy it again, just send an email to the devlopers at this email address:support@onsongapp.com and they will get you set up with the newest version.
- After opening OnSong, navigate to the menu by clicking the Songs icon in the upper right hand corner. This will bring up the song menu.
- Click on the little plus sign in the bottom right hand corner of the menu.
.
- This is the menu that gives importing options, looks for the Synchronize heading and then select Dropbox

- Sign in with your Dropbox account information.
- This will create a folder inside your Dropbox account titled OnSong.
Step 2: Putting Songs on your app.
- Download this .zip archive of my current song database: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4921709/OnSong%20Archive.zip
- When the file has finished downloading, double click it to unarchive the files. (If you are on a Mac this will happen automatically, if you are using Windows 7 there will be a button that says Extract all files, click that button to begin the extraction)
- Once the files have been extracted, open your Dropbox folder by clicking on the Dropbox icon

- Mac users will find it in the upper right hand toolbar, for windows users it will be in the lower right toolbar (You might have to click the little “Up-Arrow” to find it)
- Select Open Dropbox Folder and a new window will pop up

- There will be a folder titled OnSong

- Copy and paste the contents of the .zip archive here.
- Wait for the files to sync.
- Then open OnSong on your iPad
- After opening OnSong, navigate to the menu by clicking the Songs icon in the upper right hand corner. This will bring up the song menu.
- Click on the little plus sign in the bottom right hand corner of the menu.
- This is the menu that gives importing options, looks for the Synchronize heading and then select Dropbox.
- here will be an icon that allows you to synce the songs.
- Perform the Sync.
You should now be ready to go, there will also be a few sets already set up.
